Provide meals to kids in food insecure households in order for them to lead active and healthy lives.
As of October 2014, Hutto Independent School district had 45.3% of their students that qualified for free or reduced lunch. That means that nearly half of the 5, 915 students rely on some form of assistance for breakfast or lunch each week day. Some students may go without a decent meal every weekend. That is where Weekend Lunchbox strives to step in and help. Currently we serve students at the following elementary schools: Nadine Johnson Elementary, Ray Elementary, and Cottonwood Creek Elementary. Currently we provide weekend meals every week to 166 students.
